  • Girl Scouting depends on the excellent service of our dedicated volunteers. Adult awards are an essential part of thanking and honoring those who make Girl Scouting possible.

    Please begin your nomination by choosing the award you are nominating a volunteer for from the list below. Then follow the instructions to submit all the required information for that particular award. Please provide detailed and accurate information. The information provided may be used in the presentation of the award.

  • Volunteer of Excellence Pin Criteria

    To be recognized with the Volunteer of Excellence, a candidate must:

    • Be an active, registered, adult Girl Scout volunteer.
    • Have successfully completed a term of service and fulfilled all requirements of his/her volunteer position.
    • Have performed beyond expectations for the position to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls using the national program portfolio or have gone beyond the expectations of the position and supported council’s mission delivery goals in one or more of the following areas: membership development/community cultivation, volunteer relations/support, program, leadership and governance, fund development, and council support services.
    • Actively recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior in their troop and service unit.

    Awards may be submitted for final approval at any time throughout the year. If approved, notification will be made to the nominator. The pin may then be purchased by the nominator to present to the awardee.

  • Promise Award Criteria

    To be recognized with the Promise Award, a candidate must:

    • Be an active, registered, adult Girl Scout volunteer.
    • Have successfully completed a term of service and fulfilled all requirements of his/her volunteer position.

It honors a registered adult Girl Scout whose ongoing commitment, leadership, and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire council or entire Girl Scout Movement. The Thanks Badge II recognizes a previous Thanks Badge award recipient who has continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role significantly above and beyond the call of duty, resulting in a measurable impact that benefits the entire Girl Scout Movement.   • Innovation In Action Award Nomination Form

    All board-approved award nominations are reviewed by the adult awards committee. This committee is comprised of volunteers from across the council. The information you provide in your nomination maybe used in the presentation of the award. Please note that one endorsement letter must be attached to this nomination form. Please collect that prior to starting your nomination below. In addition, all nominations for the Innovation in Action Award must have a council staff member sponsor the nomination. This will usually be a staff member who is a subject matter expert in the area of the nominee's innovation. For example, if the nominee is a service unit cookie manager who developed an innovative approach to cookie delivery, the sponsor would be a staff member from the product program team. It could also be a staff person with firsthand experience of the nominee’s work. This staff sponsor will review the nomination and advise the adult awards committee on the nature and strength of the innovation and its implementation. It is strongly recommended that you secure this staff sponsor prior to submitting the nomination form. If you are unsure who to contact, please reach out to your member success advisor or to customer care. You may submit the award without a staff sponsor. It will be reviewed and referred to a potential sponsor(s). However, we cannot guarantee that a staff person will agree to sponsor the award.

    • The outstanding service performed by the nominee resulted in outcomes that benefited the total council or the entire Girl Scout organization and is so significantly above and beyond the call of duty that no other award would be appropriate.
    • The Thanks Badge I is based on taking a leadership role during the previous four years. The Thanks Badge II is based on taking on exemplary service in a leadership role during the previous three years, in addition to the four years of service required for the Thanks I badge recognition.
    • Thanks Badge II is awarded only to previous Thanks Badge I recipients.

    Four Letters of Endorsement must be from individuals other than the nominator and must be submitted with this form.

    To receive the Pearl Award, a candidate must:

    • Be an active, registered Girl Scout volunteer.
    • Have provided at least twenty years of active service in any volunteer role. The years of service need not be continuous, but the service does need to be active and excellent.
    • Actively recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior.

     One Letter of Endorsement from an individual other than the nominator must be submitted with this form. This letter should include detailed descriptions of the nominee’s service over the course of twenty or more years.

  • Innovation in Action Award Criteria

    To receive the Innovation in Action Award, a candidate must:

    • Be an active, registered Girl Scout volunteer.
    • Have developed, implemented, and shared a creative, innovative approach to furthering any aspect of the Girl Scout mission.
    • Actively recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior.

     One Letter of Endorsement from an individual other than the nominator must be submitted with this form. This letter should include detailed descriptions of the nominee’s innovation and how it has been implemented and shared with other Girl Scouts.

  • Friendship Circle Award Criteria

    To receive the Friendship Circle Award, a candidate must:

    • Be an organization, a business, a group, or a non-member individual.
    • Have provided helpful and generous support or service to Girl Scouting. This could include support given to troops, service units, or the council as a whole.

    One Letter of Endorsement from an individual other than the nominator must be submitted with this form. This letter should include detailed descriptions of the nominee’s actions in support of Girl Scouting.
